Letter: Intolerant agenda is offensive
Monday, June 23, 2003 | 8:38 a.m.
Last week it was that time again. The time of year when the Southern Baptists hold their convention to promote their holier than thou agenda. It should be an "abomination" to claim that gays can be magically turned heterosexual through a so-called compassionate message from Christians. Worse is to assert that Christianity is the only "right" path to salvation when there are many other faiths in the world that have also been around longer than 2,000 years.
If the Baptists wanted to help the "darkness of our culture" they should try remembering that there are many different people and religious faiths on this planet that "God" made, and to disenfranchise different people and other faiths to promote their intolerant agenda is highly offensive to the rest of God's children and to other believers looking for a loving spirit and their absolute truth.
