Rainbows install new state leader

Kaitlyn Holmen of Las Vegas was installed Tuesday as Grand Worthy Advisor, leader of the state's Rainbow Girls for the coming year, during the group's annual Grand Assembly.

More than 350 participants attended the four-day event at Alexis Park hotel. Holmen, who attends University of Nevada, Reno, will now organize the community service activities of the 232 girls in 11 Rainbow Girl assemblies.

Outgoing Grand Worthy Advisor Stephanie Meacham presented a $2,946 check to Make-A-Wish of Northern Nevada. Meacham also said this year the girls contributed 270 hours of community service to the foundation.
