Man sought in beating death
Metro Police homicide detectives are looking for 24-year-old Matthew Glenn Shaw in connection with the beating death of 38-year-old Robert Sacramona.
Sacramona's body was found in an apartment near Harmon Avenue and Pecos Road on June 11. Sacramona died of blunt trauma, the Clark County coroner's office said.
Sacramona's 1990 Buick, missing for two days after his body was discovered, was found Friday at Eighth Street and Carson Avenue. Evidence found in the car led detectives to Shaw, Lt. Tom Monahan said.
"We have sufficient cause to believe he is the one who did it," Monahan said.
Shaw and Sacramona knew each other, but it's not clear how well, he said.
Sacramona's friends found him dead in his home in Tibouron Estates after he failed to show up for work. He was a waiter at Pasta Palace at Boulder Station.
Shaw is described as a white male with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He stands 5 feet, 9 inches and weighs about 160 pounds.
Anyone with information on Shaw's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or the homicide office at 229-3521.
Teen killed on bicycle
A 13-year-old Las Vegas boy riding a bicycle was killed about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the southeast Las Vegas Valley, and Henderson Police are investigating the accident.
Jacob Robert Stewart was riding his bicycle northbound on San Miguel Avenue as a red 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck was going eastbound on Santa Helena, police said.
The boy failed to yield to the truck at the intersection and was hit by the truck, Officer Shane Lewis, Henderson Police spokesman, said.
The youth was air-lifted to the University Medical Center's Trauma Unit where he died shortly after arriving, Lewis said.
The pickup truck driver's name was not released, Lewis said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident but blood and alcohol tests were given and the results will be determined in two weeks.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the Henderson Police Department at 565-8933 or CrimeStoppers at 385-5555.
