Metro providing books to kids
Metro Police has partnered with Spread the Word Kids to Kids to help provide books to a large number of children in the community.
The program focuses on providing new and "gently" used reading books for at home libraries to at-risk children, and offers reading books at Metro's Northeast Area Command, Downtown Area Command, and Boulder Area Command.
Metro officers will be distributing books to children while on routine patrol beginning in July.
For more information, call 229-3394.
Hospice to benefit from food sales
On Fridays in July, Baja Fresh Mexican Grille will donate 15 percent of proceeds of both dine-in and take-out orders to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
Participating Baja Fresh locations include restaurants in the Mission Center Shopping Center, 1380 E. Flamingo Road, and Boca Park Shopping, 8780 W. Charleston Blvd.
Customers should mention Nathan Adelson Hospice when placing an order, or bring a program flier, which is available at either hospice location, 4141 Swenson St. or 3391 N. Buffalo Drive.
For more information, call 733-0320.
