A man and a woman are in custody today and a second woman is being sought as a result of a police chase late Monday in which speeds of about 80 mph were recorded in residential areas, Metro Police said.
The names of the suspects or the reason for the initial attempted stop by patrol officers at Wengert Avenue and Bruce Street about 10:15 p.m. were not immediately available.
During the pursuit, the fleeing silver Ford Escort attained speeds of 50 mph at Charleston Boulevard and Burnham Avenue and 80 mph on Burnham approaching Sahara Avenue, police said. Police later lost the vehicle but found it abandoned on Gaucho Drive and Raindance Way.
A man and a woman were arrested behind Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center about 11 p.m., police said.
Police are looking for a third person who was in the car, a woman who also fled the scene on foot and last was seen on Franklin Avenue.
