A man was wounded this morning while exchanging gunfire with Metro Police officers and then barricaded himself in a North Las Vegas apartment, police said.
Police allege the suspect pointed an assault rifle at Metro officers shortly after midnight, and officers fired their guns at him, police said. The suspect ran to a nearby apartment in the 2000 block of Lake Mead Boulevard.
He surrendered about 4:45 a.m. and was taken to University Medical Center, police said. He was expected to be booked into Clark County Detention Center when he is discharged. The suspect is believed to be a gang member.
Also this morning, two men were arrested in Henderson after a standoff in a apartment near St. Rose Parkway and Eastern Avenue, Henderson Police said. The standoff began about 5 a.m. Police said a woman was being held against her will in an apartment.
Hostage negotiators coaxed two male suspects and a female victim out of the apartment about 8 a.m. Both men were arrested. No one was injured.
