Las Vegas Area Fishing Report: Free fishing day is Saturday

Saturday is free fishing day statewide. Anglers may fish any water in the state without a license or trout stamp. All limits and other regulations still apply.

Boaters have reported to NDOW that stripers are scattered and difficult to catch in the Boulder Basin. One boater said that he found fish at depths of 40-80 feet from Boxcar Cove to Callville Bay, but he couldn't entice the fish to bite.

Another boater told NDOW creel census clerks that he caught six largemouth bass over the weekend by fishing with jerk baits at the Hemenway Wall.

A free fishing derby for children 15 and under will be held Saturday from 8-11 a.m. All children who participate will receive a free rod and reel while supplies last.
