Friends find man’s body in home

Metro Police are investigating the death of a man in his late 30s or early 40s whose body was found by neighbors and co-workers Wednesday night after he failed to show up for work.

The man's friends knocked on his door at a townhouse in Tiburon Estates at Pecos Road and Harmon Avenue about 8 p.m, but no one answered, Metro Homicide Lt. Tom Monahan said.

They then went to a neighbor, who told police the man had not been seen for a day or two, Monahan said.

The neighbors and friends climbed across a second-floor balcony. "They sort of shimmied across the balcony and entered the home through a window, finding the body of the man," Monahan said.

"There is a considerable amount of blood," Monahan said.

The Clark County coroner's office is working to confirm the identity of the victim and notify his family.

Police are trying to find the man's car. It is a dark blue Buick Century with Nevada license plate 800 PWU, police said. Jason Macintosh, one of the victim's friends who entered the townhouse, said the man worked as a waiter at Pasta Palace and Boulder Station. He had not come to work on Monday, so friends went looking for him, he said.

Macintosh said the man was lying in bed covered with a blanket, but there was blood on the walls.

"I knew him almost a year," Macintosh said.

Neighbors in the tree-lined complex were shocked.

"I'm surprised it happened here," 14-year resident Judy Finn said. "It's a senior citizens' community without fees, like Summerlin."

Wesley Weller, a two-month resident, said he wouldn't move away even with the possible murder.

"It's far out," Weller said of the death. "It's very quiet. You hardly see a traffic stop here."
