Letter: Compensating for more taxes
Tuesday, June 10, 2003 | 9:30 a.m.
Since it seems that our state taxes will soon be increasing by an obscene amount in order to satisfy a government wish list and my income will not be increasing in a commensurate amount, it is necessary for me to make adjustments to my operating budget. I will not be renewing my $133-a-year subscription to the Las Vegas Sun as this money must be diverted to pay for a part of my future state taxes.
Liberals will not understand this any more than they understand what they do when they give people who do not pay federal income tax a "refund" from those of us who do pay income tax. Liberals want to tax "the rich." which apparently means anyone who is not at the poverty level. At this rate there will soon be more of us getting a "refund" from the rich.
If politicians and liberal newspapermen are looking for ways to continue their careers, they might take note of what happened to the library bond issue in the last election.
