Faux marble techniques taught

The Henderson Senior Center, 27 E. Texas Ave., will host a three-part workshop on marble faux finishing from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, and June 17 and 24.

The instructor will teach participants how to create the look of marble by using faux finish techniques on wood. Practice wood will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring an unfinished wood box, plaque or small shelf to class.

SCORE gives tips on business

The Las Vegas Chapter of Service Corps of Retired Executives will present How to Really Start Your Own Business seminars at 9 a.m. Thursday and on June 28 at the City Centre Building, 400 S. Fourth St., Suite 250A.

SCORE counselors will cover marketing, cash flow, the business plan and a check list for licensing, permits and other requirements.

Drivers invited to try simulators

Join Las Vegas residents and Ride Safe Tour representatives for an opportunity to experience sophisticated electronic driving simulators from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Superior Tire locations, 5567 S. Rainbow Blvd., and at 4150 Meadows Lane.

During the Ride Safe Tour's visit, drivers can enter a virtual driving world through high-tech simulators, see a rollover simulator that vividly depicts what happens to passengers in a full-size car during a rollover accident when they wear and don't wear their seat belts, and receive personalized safety and maintenance schedules specific to their vehicle make, model and year and personal driving style from the "Vehicle Knowledge" kiosks.

An information meeting about unique degree opportunities
