Firm cancels LV trade show

A technology trade show battle has been called off before it even started.
Jupitermedia, a technology research company that planned to start a trade show to rival Comdex, has canceled the show, according to its founder.
Jupitermedia was hoping to take advantage of the plight of Comdex's parent, Key3Media Group, which has sought to reorganize under bankruptcy protection.
Jupitermedia had booked space at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas next fall to run its trade show at the same time that Comdex is scheduled at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
But according to Jupitermedia Chairman Alan M. Meckler, the show has been canceled because of "a contractual situation with Mandalay Bay."
Meckler, who just months ago said he planned to put Comdex out of business, refused to explain the problem.
"There's no contract and therefore there is no show. It's in abeyance. I can't really comment beyond that," he told the New York Times.
