Herbst, Roeseler win SCORE race

Troy Herbst of Las Vegas teamed with Larry Roeseler of Hesperia, Calif., and won both Class 1 and the overall championship for four-wheel vehicles in Saturday's 35th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 500 in Ensenada, Mexico.
Herbst and Roeseler completed the 452.93-mile course in 9 hours, 54 minutes and 46 seconds and averaged 45.69 mph in their Smithbuilt-Ford. Another Las Vegan, Danny Anderson, was second in Class 1 and second overall with a time of 9:55:28 in a Jimco-Toyota.
Mark Miller of Carefree, Ariz., and Ryan Arciero of Foothill Ranch, Calif., won the featured Trophy Truck division with a time of 10:41:28 in a Chevy Silverado. Tim and Ed Herbst of Las Vegas took second in Trophy Trucks with a time of 11:29:40 and Las Vegan Rob MacCachren teamed with Gus Vildosola Sr. of Mexicali, Mexico and finished third in 11:42:16.
Alan Pflueger of Honolulu captured the Protruck division. Californians Steve Hengeveld and Johnny Campbell were the first overall finishers in the motorcycle class with a time of 9:33:48.
