Type O blood is needed

Demand for blood at area hospitals has forced United Blood Services to declare a "critical appeal" for donors with Type O blood.
"We need both O-positive and O-negative donors to respond," said Steve Chitren, associate executive director of United Blood Services.
Several collection centers around town will have extended hours next week to accommodate donors, he said.
Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds and feel well and healthy. On average, the typical time to donate is under 90 minutes.
All donors must have proper identification.
Call 233-9620 for assistance.
