Suspects arrested in theft ring
Henderson and Metro police have arrested three men they believe are responsible for at least five stolen vehicles and several burglaries.
Henderson Police received numerous reports from July 24 through Tuesday of homes burglarized and cars stolen in Green Valley neighborhoods, Officer Shane Lewis of the Henderson Police said.
The thieves entered homes or vehicles through unlocked doors or windows. In at least five cases, keys to unlocked cars were used to steal them.
The first suspect, Anthony Yocus, 20, was arrested by Metro Police on Tuesday just after midnight while driving a stolen vehicle, police said. He was in custody at the Clark County Detention Center on charges related to auto burglary.
About 8 p.m. Tuesday Henderson Police arrested Pedro Alcantar, 20, who they say was driving another stolen vehicle. He was in the Henderson Detention Center facing a felony charge of possessing a stolen vehicle.
Henderson Police also arrested a 16-year-old boy about 3 a.m. Wednesday. The juvenile suspect was also driving a stolen vehicle and was in Clark County Juvenile Hall on a felony charge of possessing a stolen vehicle.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Henderson Police Department at 565-8933 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
Bicyclist injured in hit-and-run
A bicyclist was injured in a hit-and-run crash in the area of Desert Inn Road and Backstage Boulevard about 5 a.m. today, Metro Police said.
Police were still looking for the car this morning, described as a dark-colored Geo Prizm or Toyota Corolla. The victim was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit.
Henderson man injured in crash
A 71-year-old Henderson man suffered serious injuries Wednesday after his car collided with a sport utility vehicle on Stephanie Street near Hacienda Avenue, Metro Police said.
Marvin Korman was driving his 2000 Toyota north on Stephanie about 3 p.m. when he made a U-turn in front of a northbound 1993 GMC sport utility vehicle driven by Yvette Long, 39, of Las Vegas. The GMC was also heading north.
Korman was taken to University Medical Center. Long suffered minor injuries.
