A local insurance agent was indicted Tuesday for allegedly using a computer to seduce a 14-year-old Las Vegas girl.
An indictment unsealed Wednesday before District Judge Gene Porter charges Richard Andrew Dimare, 34, with two counts of using a computer to lure a child away from home and four counts of statutory sexual seduction.
Dimare is scheduled to be arraigned before District Judge Valorie Vega on Aug. 7. He has until Friday to turn himself in to authorities or post bail, which is set at $12,000.
Dimare faces a one- to 10-year prison sentence and a $10,000 fine for each technology charge. He faces a one- to five-year sentence on each statutory sexual seduction charge.
Dimare's attorney, William Terry, did not return calls seeking comment Wednesday.
The indictment alleges that Dimare began communicating with the teen in an online chat room in November 2002.
Prosecutors say the conversations ultimately led to the two meeting several times at a local park, which the indictment did not name. The girl eventually had sex with Dimare at the Del Mar XXX Movie Motel, 1411 S. Las Vegas Blvd., prosecutors allege.
"He picks her up, takes her to the Del Mar and they proceed to engage in the acts alleged in the indictment," Chief Deputy District Attorney Chris Laurent said.
Laurent said Dimare lied about his age and initially told the teen he was 24.
During the course of the online chats, Dimare also initiated several sexually suggestive conversations with the teen, Laurent said.
Transcripts of the conversations were compiled after authorities searched the teen's computer with a search warrant, the prosecutor said.
