Mary B. Almond

Mary B. Almond, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born July 2, 1917, in Cheney, Wash. A six-month resident, she was a retired teacher.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Figueroa of Las Vegas and Charl-Deane Almond of Bishop, Calif.; and one son, Burt Almond of Bishop.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

John R. 'Russ' Bausum

John R. "Russ" Bausum, 55, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born April 13, 1948, in Annapolis, Md. A resident for seven years, he was an entrepreneur.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joy; one daughter, Kelly Bedard, and one son, Brian Bausum, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Betty McWilliams, and one sister, Linda Grooms, both of Florida.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, Meadows chapel, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Tommy L. Berry

Tommy L. Berry, 56, of North Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 8, 1946, in Tallulah, La. A resident for 50 years, he was a hotel security officer and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Mario Berry; his mother, Mary Randolph; one sister, Dorothy Singleton, all of Las Vegas; one brother, William Berry Sr. of Nevada; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 1-8 p.m. today in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Robert L. Estes

Robert L. Estes, 75, of North Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 7, 1927, in Ellington, Mo. A resident for 53 years, he was a government warehouseman and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; three daughters, Janice Whitchurch of Las Vegas and Barbara Joyce Keefer of Watertown, N.Y.; one sister, Evelyn Shutt of Dove Creek, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 2 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Esther Golden Leaf

Esther Golden Leaf, 91, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born April 7, 1912, in Russia. A resident for 28 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Marsha Gelber of Las Vegas; one son, Dr. Ted Leaf of Hawaii; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Harlan Goldstein

Harlan Goldstein, 56, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born July 8, 1947, in Los Angeles. A resident for six months, he was a security officer and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by one brother, Farrel Goldstein of Las Vegas.

Graveside services will be 9:20 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

Teresa Gregory

Teresa Gregory, 49, of Las Vegas died July 9 in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 3, 1953, in Perth Amboy, N.J. A resident for four years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Evelyn M. Jeffries

Evelyn M. Jeffries, 81, of Henderson died Wednesday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born July 24, 1921, in New York City.

She is survived by her husband, J. Charles; two sons, Frank Oshinski and Chuck Oshinski, both of North Carolina; one daughter, Rosemary (Jeffries) Clement of Nevada; and eight grandchildren.

Eric J. 'Joe' Moore

Eric J. "Joe" Moore, 70, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born May 1, 1933, in San Francisco. A resident for 32 years, he was a U.S. Postal Service clerk, a Vietnam War Air Force veteran, a lifetime member of the Armed Forces Association, a member of the National Rifle Association and Rome Air Development Center-Flight Test.

He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Patten of Pahrump; one son, Eric Moore of Las Vegas; one sister, Margaret Moore of Kelowna, British Columbia; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Translacion 'Trancy' Murphy

Translacion "Trancy" Murphy, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Hilo, Hawaii. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired computer analyst for a land developer.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; one daughter, Patty Tester of Laguna Beach, Calif.; one son, Michael Murphy of Honolulu; five sisters, Brigita Wain and Sylvia Sexton, both of Las Vegas, Trina Cho of Honolulu and Ming Quiban of Los Angeles; one brother, Isabello Unabia Jr. of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Viator's Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Joseph Kauinui Nakea, 78, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. A crew chief, he was born March 13, 1925, in Hawaii.

He is survived by his wife, Violet; two sons, Randall Nakea and Tobias Nakea, both of Hawaii; five daughters, Tanya Lee, Floris Sizar and Anna Sacay, all of Hawaii and Corinnia Francisco and Joannella Jennings, both of Nevada; one sister, Elsie Picanco of Hawaii; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 6 p.m. Thursday in Las Vegas International Faith Center, 9175 Las Vegas Blvd. South. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

Maria Phillips

Maria Phillips, 67, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 4, 1935, in Texas. A resident for 24 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Paul.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. today in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. A private burial will follow.

Albert F. Santos

Albert F. Santos, 69, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1934, in Indiana. A resident for six years, he was a retired restaurant delivery manager.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Trevino Santos; three daughters, Laura, Michelle and Sandra; and two sons, Steve and Mugzy.

D.J. Whaley

Christopher D.J. Whaley, 23, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born June 13, 1980, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a community college student.

He is survived by his parents, Adela and Wally Whaley, one sister, Heather Whaley, and one stepsister, Chelsea Arnold; and his grandparents, Jose and Tiny Sanchez, Mary A'Hearn and Ramona Whaley, all of Las Vegas.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.

Michael Alan Winne

Michael Alan Winne, 46, of North Las Vegas died Friday in North Las Vegas. He was born June 1, 1957, in Florida. A resident for 23 years, he was an engineer for a local casino, an Army veteran and a member of James C. Strands Helping Hands Organization of North Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; three sons, Andrew Winne, Richard Winne and Christopher Marriot; his mother, Jeannette Roulston; one brother, Steven; and two sisters, Kathy Beckman and Layne Parr.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the LDS Coronado Hills Ward, 1101 N. Pecos Road. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Raymon P. Zuniga

Raymon P. Zuniga, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born Jan. 12, 1929, in Texas. A resident for 40 years, he was a hotel room server and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Angelita; three daughters, Mary Ann Stearley of Michigan and Patsy Ann Zuniga and Jessica Funderburk, both of Las Vegas; six sons, Raymond Zuniga, Alex Zuniga, Johnny Zuniga and Johnny Michael Zuniga, all of Las Vegas and Vincent Zuniga and Ray "Cisco" Zuniga, both of Michigan; two brothers, John Zuniga of Las Vegas and Tommy Zuniga of Texas; one sister, Rose Angiano of Texas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
