Gentile named to Italian American Foundation post

Wednesday, July 30, 2003 | 10:48 a.m.

The National Italian American Foundation has appointed Dominic Gentile, attorney and publisher of local Italian-American newspaper La Voce, as its area coordinator for Nevada.

Gentile, who has worked as a lawyer for more than 30 years and is adjunct law professor at the Boyd Law School at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, will be charged with increasing the foundation's visibility and membership throughout the state. He will also assist in organizing activities and programs for the state's approximately 90,000 Italian-Americans.

Gentile said he will work to get the word out to Nevada's Italian-Americans that they can benefit from the foundation's resources, including scholarship programs for youths.

"There are some national programs that those of us in the NAIF are aware of, and they are fantastic programs, particularly things that deal with preserving in third- and fourth-generation people of Italian American descent the Italian culture," he said.

The National Italian American Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the contributions of Italian-Americans.
