Letter: Loud auto stereos must be stopped
Friday, July 25, 2003 | 5:04 a.m.
How much longer are decent, law-abiding people going to put up with the insanity of noise that is brought to us by immature, irresponsible drivers who loudly play their automobile stereos? How much longer will peaceful residents allow this to go on in their communities? You've just purchased an expensive home and you find out that while you sit on your patio, you are assaulted from passing cars by a steady stream of loud, throbbing stereos where the base rattles your windows.
Has the Federal Communications Commission given these adult delinquents a license to broadcast their obnoxious trash on unwilling people? I suggest we sue the stereo manufacturers. Why not? The anti-gun lobbyists are constantly trying to sue the gun manufacturers -- so what's the difference?
You may recall 10 years ago, when the government wanted to coerce the Branch Davidians at Waco, Texas, into surrendering. Police directed very loud and vulgar noise into their compound. It was very similar to the loud noise we are subjected to from the car next to us while we wait at traffic signals in Las Vegas.
Let's not surrender. Let's fight back and get these obnoxious noise makers off the streets by calling the police every time we are assaulted by them.
