Teachers qualify for awards

CARSON CITY -- Five Clark County high school and middle school teachers have qualified for the 2003 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, and each will receive $10,000.
Their nominations are forwarded to the National Science Foundation and the national winners will be announced by the White House in late February.
The science teachers honored were Robert Arnal of Bonanza High School, Robert Anderson of Green Valley High School and Owen Mercer of Clayton Middle School in Reno.
The math teachers honored were John Turner of Coronado High School, Robert Greer of Thurman White Middle School in Henderson and Steven Isaak of Bonanza.
