New firefighter training scheduled

Las Vegas and North Las Vegas will be accepting applications for firefighter trainee in December.

An upcoming 2003 Las Vegas Community Information Seminar will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane, North Las Vegas.

The recruitment will involve a highly competitive process that includes a written exam and a pass/fail ability exam.

Applicants must meet these minimum requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older and possess an appropriate valid driver's license, a high school diploma or an equivalent to graduation from high school on the date of application. Must possess an Emergency Medical Technician Basic certificate on the date of conditional job offer.

Museum exhibit to honor women

The Las Vegas Art Museum will incorporate recognition for Nevada women along with "Revealing Nevada Women," an exhibit showcasing the local work of two nationally acclaimed women artists during its celebration at 2 p.m. Saturday at 9600 W. Sahara Ave.

The reception will recognize and honor Nevada women who have contributed to the expansion of choices for women.

Admission is $20 and includes a docent tour of the exhibition, selected books and video "Sojourner Truth" donated by Women of Diversity Productions, and light refreshements.

The Community Theatrical Group

will host a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday outside the Las Vegas Little Theatre, 3844 Schiff Lane.

Donors will receive gifts and discount coupons for the upcoming musical "Bat Boy."

Second Time Around Aussie Rescue Inc.
