Letter: Children lose as big business wins
Wednesday, July 16, 2003 | 9:03 a.m.
This budget crisis is the biggest mess I've ever seen. Even though I'm fairly certain I voted with the rest of the public on the two-thirds majority to pass any tax increase, I'm with the state Supreme Court on this matter because holding education hostage is just plain stupid! At this point it's darn near impossible to attract any decent teachers to this state.
Even if the decision is reversed I'm fairly certain the same individuals in the Legislature would still place the budget in crisis because they are afraid they might step on the toes of "Big Business."
I'm the mother of a special-needs child and it makes me furious that some of these very same individuals would vote to sacrifice whatever amount we would get for our children and their teachers over big business. I say if they get their way, vote them all out -- we don't need them!
