Southern Nevada residents with unwanted or unusable pesticides on their hands may dispose of them at the Las Vegas office of the Nevada Department of Agriculture.
The agriculture department's program provides an easy way for farmers, pest control companies, nurseries and homeowners to properly dispose of unwanted pesticides, Tom Smigel, regional administrator for the department, said.
The agriculture department will accept waste pesticides free of charge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on or before July 25 at 2300 McLeod St.
Residents should call for an appointment to drop off the pesticides, Smigel said.
Pesticides include insecticides, herbicides, rodenticides and fungicides. Items such as paint, fertilizer, antifreeze and waste oil cannot be accepted.
The agriculture department has collected and safely disposed of over 90,000 pounds of waste pesticide since the program started in 1995.
The agriculture department's phone number is (702) 486-4690.
