Driver sought in crash

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were searching this morning for the driver of a silver Mercedes who left the scene of a crash that left a woman critically injured on Interstate 215 near Charleston Boulevard.

The incident happened about 7:45 a.m. A silver Mercedes was heading south on I-215 when it went across the median and entered the northbound lanes, kicking up large rocks, Trooper Angie Wolff said. The Mercedes did not hit any cars.

A rock went through the windshield of a woman driving a brown four-door Volkswagen. It hit her in the head and she lost control of her car, which drifted to the shoulder and stopped, Wolff said. She was taken to University Medical Center.

About 10:30 a.m., troopers found the Mercedes at I-215 and Interstate 15. It had been set on fire, Wolff said.

Anyone with information on the crash or the driver is asked to call the Highway Patrol at 486-4100 extension 221.
