Letter: Anti-tax faction is deplorable
Thursday, July 10, 2003 | 8:36 a.m.
I can't help but be angry at the resistance Assemblyman Bob Beers, R-Las Vegas, and his fellow Republican assemblymen are exerting in blocking the adoption of Gov. Kenny Guinn's tax plan and budget. Their adoption is needed to fund the state's services.
The action of these assemblymen is especially deplorable in preventing the proper education of our children and in the hiring and assignment of our teachers.
It is especially disgusting to watch the performance of the group's leader -- the blustery, arrogant Bob Beers. It has been said by political analysts that he considers his role as that of a hero, that he is using this issue to further his political career and that he wants to be a senator instead of assemblyman. How disgusting. Instead, he must be recalled.
