B of A expanding in Vegas, unveiling branch design
Thursday, July 10, 2003 | 11:23 a.m.
The opening next week of a new Bank of America branch in Las Vegas will mark the beginning of a major local expansion effort, bank officials said.
"We are going to be doing a lot of building and renovation of facilities in Las Vegas," said Tom Tanno, a spokesman for Bank of America.
The new branch, at 4910 S. Fort Apache Road, will open Wednesday morning. Tanno would not reveal the number of new or renovated branches scheduled for Las Vegas, but the expansion is expected to be part of a national construction program for the bank.
The new branch also will mark the debut of a nationwide "department store" style retail design for its branches. Tanno also would not elaborate on the details of the new design.
Bank of America currently has 34 free-standing branches in the Las Vegas area and six outlets in local Vons grocery stores.
The most recent report from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. ranks Bank of America as the state's second largest bank with 19.5 percent of the market share and $5.3 billion in deposits.
