Letter: With facts he had, Bush acted correctly in Iraq
Wednesday, July 9, 2003 | 9:04 a.m.
People who write about President Bush lying about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq are at best ignorant and at worst sickening. Ignorant are the people who think Bush lied. Sickening are the people who compare the character and morals of Bush to those of President Clinton.
President Bush acted on the same information that the United Nations, the world and Clinton had to work with. All the aforementioned believed that Saddam had and had used weapons of mass destruction. All of the information over the last 15 years could not have been wrong.
We have found small pieces of the puzzle but no huge cache yet. This can lead to only two possible answers: Either Saddam destroyed the weapons as he was told to do. If so, why didn't he invite the world in and prove it? Or Saddam moved or sold the weapons to other countries like Syria or Libya. If so, they still exist and we must keep looking for them lest they end up here. Again it would be Saddam who wanted the war and President Bush did the right thing.
Men of good character and morals tend to do the right thing at the right time. Even if only nine of the 10 right reasons America eliminated Saddam turn out to be correct, America still did the right thing.
