French flags flying again
Tuesday, July 8, 2003 | 11:24 a.m.
The French flag is flying next to the Stars and Stripes once again at the Paris Las Vegas.
A spokesman for the Strip hotel-casino said the mood of the nation has shifted enough for the hotel-casino, owned by Las Vegas-based Park Place Entertainment Corp., to return the tri-colored emblem of France.
"We've gone back to the mixture of French and American flags," said Michael Coldwell, a spokesman for Park Place. "I think people know we are an American company, but it seemed like the right time to return to the spirit of our French theme."
French flags were removed from the property's exterior in March when the French government opposed the United States' invasion of Iraq. Paris Las Vegas flew all American flags from the flagpoles on the property when the French flags were removed, but now have mixed French and American banners.
