Pedestrian hit, killed
A pedestrian trying to cross Flamingo Road west of Escondido Street was struck and killed Thursday night, Metro Police said.
No charges have been filed, police said.
Don L. Border Jr., 61, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was trying to cross the road with the aid of a single crutch outside a crosswalk, officers said.
A 1998 Ford Taurus driven by a 41-year-old Las Vegas man struck the man, traffic investigators said. Police said the cause of the accident appears to be jaywalking and that alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
Woman found dead in home
Metro Police are investigating the death of a woman who was found by friends and neighbors about 10 a.m. Sunday in her home in the 5900 block of Carmen, near Washington Avenue and Jones Boulevard.
While the Clark County coroner's office will determine the official cause of death, it appears that the woman died of stab wounds, Metro Lt. Tom Monahan said.
The woman had not been positively identified this morning by the coroner's office.
Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 385-5555 or the homicide section at 229-3521.
Man, 75, dies in crash on I-15
MOAPA -- A 75-year-old man was killed in a fiery, single-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 north of Moapa early Saturday, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
The man was driving northbound about 2 a.m. when his vehicle struck the east guardrail, drifted back onto the road and then veered right again, plowing through a chain-link fence and down a 100-foot ravine, the patrol said.
His BMW burst into flames at the bottom of the incline, the patrol said.
The man's identity was not released pending an autopsy and notification of his family. Highway Patrol officials said he had residences in California and Nevada and the BMW was registered in California.
The accident remained under investigation.
