Nevada insurer reports profit
Monday, July 7, 2003 | 11:04 a.m.
Employers Insurance Co. of Nevada, the state's largest workers' compensation insurer, today reported net income of $2.1 million for the second quarter.
That's an improvement from the $1.3 million loss reported in the same 2002 quarter.
The company reported $67.3 million in premiums written, up from $30.4 million in premiums written in the same 2002 quarter. The company attributed the growth to the acquisition of California-based Fremont Employers Insurance Group, which was completed last summer.
Employers Insurance also reported $1.26 billion in assets and a policyholder surplus of $218 million at the end of the second quarter.
