Success has been hit and miss at Lake Mead

Fishing has been spotty in the Overton Arm of Lake Mead, according to Nevada Department of Wildlife creel census clerk Walt DeMattos.

Stripers that averaged 14 inches were taken with anchovies. A largemouth bass that weighed in at 2 pounds was taken with a crank bait.

Anglers fishing at the Meat Hole continued to land stripers that averaged 16 inches. Anchovies are landing the fish.

Boaters fishing off shore at Stewarts Point were landing stripers that ranged from 16-18 inches. Anchovies were the bait of choice.

Anglers fishing Echo Bay reported good success for largemouth bass. An angler landed five bass that ranged from 2-3 pounds each. A few stripers that averaged 16 inches were also taken with anchovies.

Cottonwood Cove anglers reported that fishing picked up significantly from previous weeks. Catfish that averaged five pounds were caught using a variety of baits. Stripers that averaged three pounds were also common. Both fishes were landed with anchovies, squid, mackerel and worms.
