Letter: Car stickers may stop tragedies
Thursday, July 3, 2003 | 9 a.m.
It just may help prevent the "child left in hot (or any kind of weather) tragedies" if a movement was started to make eye-catching stickers to be located on the dashboard in front of both the driver and the front passenger seats. Such signs should be promoted by child care centers or wherever else children are taken by employed parents to be cared for.
These tragedies never leave the minds of parents who suffer such losses or come close to experiencing it.
I am sure there are those of us with empathy who would contribute to the printing of such warnings if it was handled effectively and responsibly and the public was apprised of that kind of warning notice being available.
As a suggestion, the sign should or could read: "Is Your Child In The Back Seat Now?" or "Be Sure To Check The Back Seat Before Leaving Your Car!"
Any provocative sign should catch the eye of the driver to prevent any more of these horrible tragedies!
