Savvy wine buys

The inaugural vintage of this glorious California Cabernet Sauvignon was 1999, and already, winemaker Tom Rinaldi has the Napa Valley buzzing. The winery is part of the prestigious Chalone Wine Group, and the name provenance means "source" or "origin." This is a rich, elegant wine with hints of plum, blackberry and dark chocolate, and it should mature nicely in the next two or three years. It will be a terrific match for red meat, and will also make a nice, chillable red for the summer.
Available at Lee's Discount Liquor, $34.
