CARSON CITY -- Five-term Assemblyman Tom Collins, D-North Las Vegas, was released from the Carson-Tahoe Hospital Tuesday and said he was headed home to consult with his own physician.
Collins, 53, was admitted to the hospital Monday afternoon after complaining of chest pains while at his desk in the Assembly chambers. Assemblyman Joe Hardy, R-Boulder City, a doctor who sits nearby, went to help him.
Collins was then wheeled out of the Assembly on a gurney and spent the night in the hospital. He said Tuesday there were different opinions as to what caused the chest pains. The Legislature is in recess pending the outcome of a ruling by the Nevada Supreme Court on a petition by Gov. Kenny Guinn to force the Legislature to pass a school funding bill and a tax package.
Monday, the end of the fiscal year, was the Legislature's deadline to pass the measures.
