New members named to train commission

CARSON CITY -- Gov. Kenny Guinn named six new members Wednesday to the Nevada commission that is promoting a 269-mile high-speed train system between Southern California and Las Vegas.
Appointed to the California-Nevada Super Speed Train Commission were MaryKaye Cashman, vice president and CEO of Cashman Equipment; Manny Cortez, president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority; and Jeff Fontaine, deputy director of the Nevada Department of Transportation in Carson City.
Also named were Clark County Commissioner Chip Maxfield; Danny Thompson, executive director of the Nevada AFL-CIO; and Dan Van Epp, president of the Howard Hughes Corp.
The other members of the commission are Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus, D-Las Vegas, and chairman Bruce Aguilera of Las Vegas.
