Las Vegas Area Fishing Report: Anglers land stripers at Lake Mead

NEVADA DIVISION OF WILDLIFE
Creel census clerk Walt DeMattos reported that anglers fishing the Overton Arm around Fish Island and in the Muddy River area of Lake Mead are finding success for stripers that ranged 15-16 inches in length. Anchovies were the bait of choice.
A boater fishing in Echo Bay was successful landing eight stripers that weighed in at 3 to 4 pounds. A large brass spinner landed the fish.
Anglers fishing with anchovies in the Las Vegas Bay area were successful landing stripers that ranged from 15-17 inches.
NDOW will stock Hemenway Cove, Horsepower Cove, Pumphouse Cove (B5) and North Saddle Cove (B3) today.
Cottonwood Cove anglers experienced good success for stripers that measured 21 inches and under. The fish were taking a variety of bait including anchovies. A few five-pound catfish were landed using anchovies and squid.
