Entries accepted for poetry contest
Creative Communication is presenting its semi-annual free Poetry Contest for students and adults, and is used by teachers and parents to motivate young writers. Five separate divisions are offered with 10 top winners in each division. The divisions are: Grades K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and adult.
More than $2,500 in prizes are awarded to the winning poets and $500 in grants are awarded to schools. Poems of merit will be invited to be published in an anthology.
The deadline for the contest is April 5.

Students to celebrate Chinese New Year
Students from The Meadows School will be dressed in red and yellow to celebrate Chinese New Year at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Forum Shops at Caesars.
Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman's wife, Carolyn Goodman, one of the founders of the school, will lead the parade as an authentic handmade dragon's head from Hong Kong.
The parade will feature songs in Chinese and movements by the students under the direction of Jeff Kriske, The Meadows' music teacher.

The Salvation Army
presents "The Revised Standard Version Quartet" at 7 p.m. Saturday at 2900 Palomino Lane. The quartet consists of Jerry Unfried, Eric Maine, Don Unfried and Jim Reed. For more information, call Major Neil Timpson at 870-4430, Ext. 25.
