Savvy wine buys: Marimar Don Miguel Chardonnay ‘98
Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003 | 8:15 a.m.
Marimar Torres came to California from Spain, where her father, Miguel Torres, was a renowned winemaker. Torres wines from Spain are sold in leading wine stores all over Las Vegas, and are terrific values.
This one is a typical California chardonnay, oaky, creamy and big in the glass. It's styled like the classic Russian River Valley chardonnays, full-bodied and lightly alcoholic (13.5 percent), a wine that needs food to achieve its full potential. And though it is not inexpensive, it is a wine that rivals any chardonnay from the region at this price.
