Dionicio Avila, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Los Angeles. A resident for 18 years, he was a retired county government investigator and a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Anita; three sons, Darryl Avila of Sparks, Steven Avila of Running Springs, Calif., and Robert Avila of Spring Valley Lake, Calif.; two daughters, Theresa Zumwalde of Tucson and Patricia Porter of Reno; four sisters, all of California; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Friday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Graveside services will be private. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

L.C. Banks

L.C. Banks, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born July 16, 1922, in Homer, La. A resident for 49 years, he was a retired operating engineer, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Operating Engineers Local 12 and a deacon at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by four daughters, Thelma J. Marshall-Mitchell, B. Jeanie Banks, Darlene Burton and Phyllis Banks, and two sons, Lonnie Banks and Charles Barnell Banks, all of Las Vegas; four brothers, W.B. Smith, Calvin Smith, Charles Smith and Rand Smith; three sisters, Annie Pearl Bell, Eula Mae Hutton and Lizzie Ruth Weems; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 1240 W. Adams Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Wreatha D. Banks, 59, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 9, 1944, in Detroit. A resident for 46 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard Sr.; two daughters, Linda Thomas of Las Vegas and Lolita Holloway of Atlanta; two sons, Gary Jones of Atlanta and Leonard Banks Jr. of Las Vegas; her mother, Jennie White of California; her stepfather, Jimmy White of Las Vegas; three sisters, Joyce Love and Deloris Bell, both of Las Vegas, and Laneada Williams of California; and 10 grandchildren.

Helene S. Bizic, 88, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 17, 1915, in Munhall, Pa. A resident for 25 years, she was a secretary for the federal government.

She is survived by her husband, Eli W. Bizic Sr. of Las Vegas; one son, Eli W. Bizic Jr. of McLean, Va.; one brother, Joseph Zrelak of Apple Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Tillie Rajkovich of San Bernardino, Calif., and Dorothy Cherene of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Helen L. Bray, 63, of Henderson died Sunday in Las Vegas. A food server, she was born Oct. 7, 1939, in Ohio.

Edward H. Brooks, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Ensenada, Mexico. He was born Jan. 19, 1929, in Lyon County, Ky. A resident for 16 years, he was a retired nuclear physicist.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara J.; three sons, Dr. Dwyte E. Brooks, Gerald H. Brooks and Marvin Morell, all of Las Vegas; two daughters, Roberta Susan Brooks of Baltimore and Heather Joy Eikenberry of Odento, Md.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dorothy B. Broyles, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 31, 1925, in Emory, Va. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired head cook for a senior citizens center.

She is survived by her husband, William O.; one daughter, Sharon Page, and one son, Gary Broyles, both of Las Vegas; three sisters, Edith Hall of Walhalla, S.C., Christine Green of Beaver Dam, Ky., and Bernice Burkett of Cayce, S.C.; four brothers, Harold Poston of Walhalla, S.C., and Ray C. Poston and Douglas Poston, both of Merrillville, Ind., and Curley Poston of Beaver Dam.

William M. Cunningham, 71, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 4, 1932, in Kansas. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired cable slicer for the telephone company, an Air Force veteran and a member of American Legion Post 490.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one son, Michael Zipp of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; one daughter, Karen Lawrence of Las Vegas; two sisters, Virginia Hunter of Pulaski, N.Y., and Josephine Morrison of Phoenix; four grandchildren; and three grandchildren.

Ruby Desai, 37, of Pahrump died Saturday in Pahrump. She was born Jan. 8, 1966, in Mesa, Ariz. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Rock N Roll Trevor McLennon of Pahrump and Robert Desai and Samuel Desai, both of New Jersey; her parents, Robert McLennon and Linda Rieger, two sisters, Robin McLennon and Rebecca McLennon, and her friend, Connie Leist, all of Pahrump.

Janice Frink, 62, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A high school math teacher, she was born Aug. 14, 1940, in Illinois. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and Las Vegas Newcomers.

She is survived by her husband, James L.; one daughter, Linda Liebert of Irving, Texas; one son, James Frink of Schwenksville, Pa.; her mother, Helen I. Bienias of Berwyn,Ill.; two sisters, Judy Zarebski of Cicero, Ill., and Debra Duda of Chicago; and one grandson.

Larry L. Hendley Sr., 64, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born April 4, 1938, in Pontiac, Mich. A resident for 12 years, he was a factory worker and truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Roselyn; two daughters, Cheryl Barber and Delores Hendley, both of Michigan; three sons, DeWayne Rayment, Timothy Rayment and Larry Hendley Jr., all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Doris Carline, Janet Dant and Marlyn Pozin, all of Michigan; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Anne Marie Howard, 93, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born March 18, 1909, in Pittsburgh. A resident for 11 years, she was a saleswoman at a department store and a member of the American Contract Bridge League.

She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Romm of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Stuart Indig, 49, of Las Vegas died Jan. 21 in Las Vegas. He was born June 19, 1953, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 21 years, he was a retired dealer and a member of the Jockeys Guild.

He is survived by his father, Israel Indig of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; his mother and stepfather, Charlotte and Tony Pollits of Las Vegas; and one sister, Helene G. Entus of Plantation, Fla.
