Candlelighters plan Golden Gala Saturday
Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer will hold its annual Golden Gala Dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Four Seasons, to raise money for children with cancer.
Ron Wielochowski and two Candlelighter children will be honored.
Candlelighters is a nonprofit organization that provides support services to families of children with cancer. The purpose of the organization is to alleviate the isolation, uncertainty and loneliness felt by families facing childhood cancer through support, education and services, without regard to economics, race, religion, or choice of health care providers.

'Lend a Hand' with old cell phones
Lend a Hand is holding a cell phone fund-raiser through Friday. Take old cell phones to the Boulder Dam Credit Union, 530 G Ave., Boulder City, or the Boulder City Hospital, 901 Adams Blvd.
Lend A Hand is a nonprofit organization that helps the elderly and chronically ill of Boulder City remain in their homes by providing a variety of services by volunteers.

Red Rock offers survival classes
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes, walks and programs free of charge. To make required reservations or for more information on the following or upcoming programs, call 363-1922:
Red Rock Day Camp: An outdoor classroom featuring desert survival.
Indian Country: A 4-mile moderate hike while viewing ancient and fairly recent petroglyphs and natural springs, Friday.
Birding with a Ranger: A 2 1/2 mile easy excursion into the world of bird watching.
Freaky Friday: A 3-mile moderate hike. Learn about animals of the night.
