Police, firefighters tangle on the court

Las Vegas firefighters and Metro Police will face off in a charity basketball, Dragnets vs. Throwin' Heat, at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The game runs for an hour with half-time contest for spectators. Immediately following the game, local firefighters, police and other emergency agencies will kick off their Kids Safety Day fair.

Tickets are $8 (with $3 benefiting the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada).

Motorcycle auction scheduled this weekend

The 12th annual Vintage, Classic and Special Interest Motorcycle Auction will be at noon Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday at the Tropicana hotel.

Buyers and sellers from the United States, England and Japan are expected to attend the two-day event, with partial proceeds benefiting the Clark County Museum. Several hundred vintage and classic motorcycles will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Admission to the event is $5; children ages 12 and under are free. For more information, call 455-7955.

Teen job fair set at NLV Library

The Teen Career and Job Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive.

Recruiters from the top career schools in Clark County will be present. Prizes, entertainment and refreshments, will be provided.

Red Cross to host pet first aid class

The American Red Cross has scheduled a pet first aid class from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday at 3672 N. Rancho Drive, and would like to say thank you to an anonymous donor who bought the chapter a dog and cat manikin for its program.

During the four-hour class pet lovers will learn life-saving mouth to snout techniques. Participants will also learn first aid for their pets. Call 791-3311, Ext. 3010.
