Letter: Public schools are a burden
Friday, Jan. 24, 2003 | 9:05 a.m.
The government school system creates a heavy tax burden that adversely affects everyone, including those paying tuition to church-run schools and retirees on Social Security.
"Public" education forces Americans in our nation's "better" communities to subsidize the teaching of values that are anti-God, anti-family, and anti-country.
Imagine the impact on family life if "public" schools were closed and everyone received a 50 percent reduction in property taxes. Imagine too the elimination of other taxes as government is limited to its proper boundaries.
Instead of Hillary Clinton's "taking a village to raise a child," while both parents are working to earn money to pay taxes, why, mothers might be able to give children a greater, longer-lasting gift by staying home with them.
