School: Sierra Vista
Class: Senior
Sport: Basketball
Last week: For the fledgling program at Sierra Vista, last week proved to be a good one, thanks in part to the efforts of Garrett Schofield and the Lions' sharpshooters. Sierra Vista earned victories over both Bonanza and Mojave. In the Friday win over the Bengals, Schofield notched a game-high 24 points as the Lions prevailed at home, 70-59. The following day against Mojave, Schofield totaled 16 points as part of a balanced attack that led Sierra Vista to a 72-46 victory. Through Tuesday, Sierra Vista stands at 1-1 in the Southwest Division and visits Bishop Gorman Friday night.
KIM ETOL
School: Las Vegas
Class: Sophomore
Sport: Basketball
Last week: Las Vegas is rolling through a stellar season and sophomore guard Kim Etol made a big contribution last week. The Wildcats earned a key victory over Northeast Division foe Chaparral last Friday night, and Etol netted 23 points to lead all scorers and spur Las Vegas to a 61-38 triumph over the Cowboys. Etol also totaled six rebounds and three steals in the victory. She scored 13 of her points in the first half as the Wildcats built up their lead.
