Henderson’s own Spaghetti Bowl starts

Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003 | 9:51 a.m.

The state Transportation Department broke ground Wednesday on the Auto Show Drive interchange. Later this summer, state officials plan to break ground south of that interchange on the $115 million Henderson Spaghetti Bowl project, due to open in 2005.

The groundbreaking came just two days after Gov. Kenny Guinn in his State of the State address named the Henderson Spaghetti Bowl project as one of several major projects that will be funded using $524 million in state and federal funds.

The state built the original Spaghetti Bowl for Las Vegas in the 1960s, so named for the ever-increasing lanes of traffic wound in a looping knot just west of downtown.
