See Red Rock's beauty up close
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes, walks and programs free of charge. To make required reservations or for more information on the following or upcoming programs, call 363-1922:
"Valley of Fire:" A 2- to 3-mile moderate hike on Friday with the interpretive staff for a day trip to Nevada's ancient past and scenic beauty. Share an inspirational story, poem, or short essay at lunch.
Mahogany March: A 5-mile strenuous hike to a peak with incredible views, Saturday.
Where did the Burros Go?: Join Ranger Jack on a 5-mile moderate hike to the slopes of Grapevine Springs, near a garden of petroglyphs, Sunday.
Ten to the Top: A trip to a spring on this 2 1/2-mile moderate hike, Sunday.
Pace it Slow: An easy 2-mile hike, Sunday.
Scholarships available for summer camps
Clark County Parks and Community Services is accepting scholarship applications through March 15 for three summer youth resident camps that will be held at Camp Lee Canyon at Mount Charleston.
All camps have a nurse in residence along with two adult counselors per cabin and an on-site director and camp Coordinator. Meals are provided by a professional catering service.
Nonscholarship registration will begin on March 21.

Program offered for new fathers
Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Center of Excellence will host a New Fathers Lecture from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at St. Rose Dominican Hospital-Siena Campus, 3001 St. Rose Parkway, Henderson.
New fathers will learn what to expect with childbirth and will give participants an opportunity to discuss their individual concerns. There will also be a certified technician available to perform car seat inspections.

Midbar Kodesh Temple
will celebrate the mitzvah of tefillin during the third annual "World Wide Wrap" at 9 a.m. Sunday at the temple, 1940 Paseo Verde Parkway, Henderson. There will be a hands-on session on the significance of tefillin and how to put them on, followed by a bagel breakfast. Call 454-4848.
The concert "With One Voice"
will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the LDS chapel, 6601 W. Twain Ave., in honor of Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Christians of all faiths are invited to attend the event. Admission is free. Call 871-1904.
University Nevada, Las Vegas'
Spring catalog of community interest courses were mailed to former students and is also available at Las Vegas Clark County Libraries, as well as the Educational Outreach office. Selected courses and the entire catalog can be accessed on the Internet (edoutreach.unlv.edu).
