Local businessman Gary Ackerman has donated $500,000 to the UNLV women's basketball program on behalf of his wife, former Lady Rebel Linda Staley Ackerman.
Ackerman, who owns several car dealerships serving the Las Vegas and Henderson area, has been a University and athletics donor since the early 80s.
The Linda Staley Ackerman Fund has been established by the couple to go towards the general women's basketball account and be used for recruiting and equipment purposes over the next 10 years with a $50,000 per year donation, the largest gift ever made to the UNLV women's basketball program.
