Henderson operation expands, state assistance granted

Monday, Jan. 20, 2003 | 11:13 a.m.

The Ford Motor Credit Co. Henderson Service Center added 100 employees and will receive a state grant for training them under a Nevada Commission on Economic Development incentive program, a newspaper reported Friday.

In Business Las Vegas, a sister newspaper to the Las Vegas Sun, reported the company will receive an $80,000 grant under the state's Train Employees Now program following a unanimous vote of the Commission on Economic Development at a meeting earlier this month.

Randy Rhodes, learning and development manager at Ford, said the center on St. Rose Parkway at Interstate 215 now has 702 employees, handling 1 million customer accounts and $14.6 billion in receivables from six western states.

The Train Employees Now program is one of six incentive programs offered by the state to attract businesses to Nevada or to encourage them to expand their operations. It's the only incentive program administered as a grant and not a tax deferral or abatement.
