Ralph Eugene Bennett Jr.

Ralph Eugene Bennett Jr., 80, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Pittsfield, Mass. A resident for 3 1/2 years, he was a World War II Army veteran who served as a supply clerk.

He is survived by his wife, Elena; and two daughters, Kathleen Windom of Houston and Dr. Mandy Ramani of La Canada, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Thomas Leonard Busey

Thomas Leonard Busey, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Jacksonville, Ill. A resident for 18 years, he was a manager at Henry Nelch & Sons Lumber Co., in Jacksonville, a member of the Shriners Zelzah Temple, Elks, Kiwanis, Scottish Rite and was a Master Mason of Daylite Lodge.

He is survived by one daughter, Sandra Busey of Las Vegas; one son, Jeffrey Busey of Ocean Springs, Miss.; and three grandchildren.

Ronald Keith Chandler

Ronald Keith Chandler, 44, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 19, 1958, in Fairbanks, Alaska. A resident for 36 years, he was a graphic artist, a member of UNLV Sigma Nu and Gutenberg Printers Guild involved in the Renaissance Festival.

He is survived by two sisters, Patricia A. Resch of Wasilla, Alaska, and Kathy Kochendorfer of Palmer, Alaska; and one brother, Ken Chandler of Chandler, Ariz.

Lula Dyess

Lula Dyess, 92, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born June 10, 1910, in Mississippi. A resident for 15 years, she was a cafe owner and operator.

Janice Fitzgerald

Janice Fitzgerald, 50, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in North Las Vegas. She was born July 24, 1952, in Los Angeles. A resident for 24 years, she was a casino change person.

She is survived by one son, De'Maruea Miller, and one daughter, Lakeisha Miller, both of Las Vegas; four brothers, Lester Lewis of Big Bear, Calif, James Fitzgerald of Fontana, Calif., and Albert Lewis and Jerry Fitzgerald, both of Las Vegas; three sisters, Dorothy Moore of Palmdale, Calif., Ivy Chappell and Barbara Lewis, both of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Friday at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. with burial following at Palm Valley View Cemetery.

Katelyn Jo Friedman-Buskirk

Katelyn Jo Friedman-Buskirk, 18 months, died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born July 8, 2001, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her mother, Amanda Friedman, her father, Jeremy Buskirk, two brothers, Cody Friedman and Travis Buskirk, and her grandparents, Randy and Patricia Friedman and Eugene and Christine Buskirk, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Spring Valley Assembly of God Church, 7570 W. Peace Way.

Kathleen Marie Friedman

Kathleen Marie Friedman, 58, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 31, 1944, in Marshfield, Wis. A resident for 10 years, she was a a district materials management specialist for the U.S. Postal Service.

She is survived by her husband, Seymour; one daughter, Courtney K. Friedman of Las Vegas; her mother and stepfather, Ann Marie and Roger Mauss of Henderson; and two brothers, Kenneth Campbell of Stayton, Ore., and Joni Mays of Anaheim, Calif.

Karen Dale Hirigoyen

Karen Dale Hirigoyen, 43, of Las Vegas died Dec. 20 in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 19, 1959, in California. A resident for eight years, she was a cashier at several restaurants.

She is survived by her companion, Mark Caskey of Las Vegas; one son, Richard Morris of Gig Harbor, Wash.; one daughter, Jennifer Hirigoyen, and her stepfather, Larry Renio, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Sharon of California; and two grandchildren.

Elmer Layfayette Kay, 79, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born May 25, 1923, in California. A resident for 40 years, he was a police officer and World War II Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by one sister, Mary Smelser of San Bernardino, Calif.

Robert F. Kugler

Robert F. Kugler, 71, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. He was born June 21, 1931, in Los Angeles. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired salesman and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnne; two daughters, Deborah Evans of Irvine, Calif., and Nancy Kugler of Las Vegas; one brother, Edwin P. Kugler of Cambridge, Mass.; and one granddaughter.

Alvin L. Kvanvig

Alvin L. Kvanvig, 70, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 25, 1932, in Hettinger, N.D. A resident for 38 years, he was a retired engineer at the Nevada Test Site for more than 25 years, a Korean War Navy veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Cronin of Grants Pass, Ore., and Norma Delaney of Las Vegas; his companion, Frances Papes of Las Vegas; two brothers, Kenneth Kvanvig of North Carolina and Clifford Kvanvig of Michigan; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Elisabeth P. Mayntz

Elisabeth P. Mayntz, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born July 5, 1921, in Germany. A resident for 12 years, she owned and operated a drapery company.

She is survived by her husband, Fred; two sons, Fred Jr. and Joseph; one daughter, Edith; two brothers, Willi and Hans; one sister, Edith; and six grandchildren.

Bernard L. Nelson

Bernard L. Nelson, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 30, 1930, in Nevada, Iowa. A resident for 36 years, he was a truck driver for Wells Cargo and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rita M.; one son, Rory Nelson of Las Vegas; two daughters, Tammie Brashears of Las Vegas and Cindy Leavitt of Spanish Fork, Utah; two brothers, Jim Nelson and Tom Nelson, both of Missouri; and five grandchildren.

Loretta Onofrio

Loretta Onofrio, 79, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 18, 1923, in Chicago Heights, Ill. A resident for 27 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by four sons, Anthony Onofrio of Wisconsin, Dennis Onofrio of Las Vegas and Gerald Onofrio and Patrick Onofrio, both of Georgia; one sister, Jenny Moscato of New Jersey; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Raymond Michael Power, 60, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Illinois. A resident for five years, he was a forklift operator and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie; one daughter, Melissa Power; his mother, Harriet; one brother, Richard Power; and one grandchild.

James H. Spence

James H. Spence, 89, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 26, 1913, in Herrin, Ill. A resident for 54 years, he was a retired casino executive, a World War II Navy and Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by two daughters, Kristin Blaire Chanin of Westport, Conn., and Raemonde Spence of Las Vegas; one son, Dan Spence of Las Vegas; two sisters, Winifred Zook and Esther Spence, both of Herrin; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Beatrice Louise Stegner

Beatrice Louise Stegner, 90, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born March 20, 1912, in South Dakota. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired secretary.

She is survived by two sons, Charles A. Stegner and Wilbur G. Stegner.

A resident for 40 years, he was a retired security officer, a Korean War Army veteran, a member of Stardusters, Circle Eights and Swinging Stars square dance clubs and past president of Stardusters and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; one son, Bill Ringwelski of Kingman, Ariz.; two daughters, Diane Butte and Glorie Ringwelski, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Charles Tangren of Atlanta; three sisters, Beverly Scott of Dunsmuir, Calif., Phyllis Bullerwell of Mount Shasta, Calif., and Betsy Sanders of San Diego; four grandchildren; and three grandchildren.

George W. Von Tobel, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 26, 1918, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a retired civil engineer in the real estate industry, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Variety Club and Lyons Club.

He is survived by six daughters, Julie Roach, Jackie Von Tobel, Jennifer Von Tobel, Trudi Von Tobel and Valorie McCord, all of Las Vegas and Victoria McGuire of Evergreen, Colo.; one son, Jon Von Tobel, and one brother, Ed Von Tobel Jr., both of Las Vegas; and 14 grandchildren.

Angela S. Waller, 35, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1967, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a hotel cook.

She is survived by one son, Lamar Pollard, and one daughter, Tyesha Waller, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Bedyth McCollum-Waller, and three sisters, Rhonda Waller, Mary Waller and Dawn Rabb, all of North Las Vegas.
