Tax help planned for low-income people
Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003 | 9:24 a.m.
Nevada Legal Services, a nonprofit organization, has received funds from the Internal Revenue Service to help low income taxpayers, for whom English is a second language, to receive the maximum number of money in tax refunds and tax credits.
The money is also to be used to help protect taxpayers from tax preparation scams regardless of whether or not they are using a valid Social Security number.
Nevada Legal Services will implement a public campaign until the end of the tax season and is forming a statewide coalition that will unite Northern and Southern Nevada in an outreach effort.
