After weeks of speculation he would be joining the UNLV football coaching staff, longtime college head coach Bruce Snyder was officially announced as a new offensive assistant by the school on Monday afternoon.
The 63-year-old Snyder, the 1996 national coach of the year after leading Arizona State to an 11-1 record, will oversee tight ends and H-backs but will also have input with other aspects of the Rebel offense.
"I have known Bruce Snyder for a majority of my life and I have great admiration for his coaching abilities," UNLV coach John Robinson said. "He has had a highly successful career as a head coach and I think he will bring an organized style to our offense that is extremely efficient. He will also add a toughness that will benefit our team greatly."
Snyder fills the coaching position that opened with the firing of secondary coach Steve Leach last month.
