A brief police chase ended Thursday night when a driver turned down a dead end street, then rammed two Metro Police cruisers, police said.

Officer Jose Montoya said at 9:38 p.m., officers tried to pull over a reckless driver at Boulder Highway and Russell Road, but the driver didn't stop.

The chase went into Green Valley where the driver turned down Franklin Chase Place, which is a dead end street, Montoya said. The driver allegedly rammed a cruiser, then backed up and hit another cruiser, causing minor to moderate damage to the police vehicles. The driver suffered minor injuries.

Motorcyclist found dead in desert

A passing motorist led Metro Police traffic investigators to dead a motorcyclist near Cottonwood Cove Road outside Searchlight about 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Metro is still investigating why and how a 55-year-old Searchlight resident wound up dead next to the motorcycle about 418 feet off the road in a gully.

Police said it appears the motorcyclist left the right side of the roadway due to excessive speed while traveling eastbound, then traveled back across the roadway and into the desert.

Two people were arrested Thursday after what Metro Police called a "low-risk standoff" at a residence near Tenaya Way and Alexander Road.

Darin Greene, 22, was arrested on felony warrants for possession of stolen property. Lindsay Greene, 19, was arrested for possession of stolen property.

Sgt. Rick Barela said officers from Metro's Northwest Area Command got a tip that a stolen vehicle and stolen property relating to an ongoing case were at a home on Larkvale Way. When officers got there about 7:30 a.m., a man inside refused to open the door, police said.

Metro's SWAT team responded, but didn't force entry. The suspects came out voluntarily about noon, Barela said.
